I recently opened up a micro lending account over at Kiva.org. The idea of micro lending I’ve been familiar with for many years, but being an active participant hasn’t really been on my radar, not for any particular reason good or bad. For those not familiar with the idea, micro lending is the practice of lending out relatively small sums of money to individuals, or groups of individuals, in developing countries who then use the funds, pretty much however they want, but more commonly for some “invested” good – seeds for planting, drill well for water, bike for transportation.
Before I give any type of a resounding endorsement for the site and the practice itself, anyone is welcome to follow my progress and the individuals I’ve been lending to by checking out my profile. As the weeks and months roll on, I will try to remember to write updates on my experiences with the service.
